THE BEAUTY OF BEING PRUDENT

There are many beautiful things about being prudent, which you stand a chance to enjoy.
- You escape shame. “A fool wrath is presently known, but a prudent man covereth shame”. Proverbs 12:16. When you are prudent, you will escape the shame of debt and poverty.
- Honour and knowledge. “The simple inherits folly but the prudent are crowned with knowledge”. Proverbs 14:18. You demonstrate knowledge in your doing. “A prudent man concealeth knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaimeth business”. Proverbs 12:23
Escape evil. “A prudent man forseeth evil and hideth but the simple pass on and are punished”. Proverbs 22:3
- Prudence is the foundation of prosperity. You cannot prosper without being prudent. If you are fond of wasting money, time, materials and resources, you will find it difficult to prosper. So if you must prosper in life; being prudent is the key.
BECOMING PRUDENT
It takes conscious efforts to become prudent; it doesn’t happen by accident. You can’t fast your way into it. Towing the painful path of discipline is the only way to being prudent. Find out the merits attached to being prudent and the demerits of a lackadaisical attitude.
BETWEEN PRUDENCE AND STINGINESS
Prudence is not the same as stinginess. To be prudent means to spend wisely and sensibly. To spend with caution and not waste money; while stinginess means not generous, when you can easily afford to give.
There is a thin line between prudence and stinginess. In fact some folks can hide under the cloak of being prudent to be stingy.
A prudent person will meet the needs of his family to the best of his ability before saving; a stingy person will save his money in the bank while his children suffer.
A prudent person pays all his bills, fares, fees, etc but a stingy person will leave them unpaid.
A prudent person will give to God and not to girl friends or dirty lifestyle. A stingy person will not give to God and his dependants but can spend millions on girls, wine and drug.
Blessing goes with a man or woman who meets the needs of his family by being disciplined and spending prudently but the anger of the Lord goes with any man who fails to provide for his family because he is stingy. “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath defiled the faith and is worse than an infidel”. (1Timothy 5:18)
