This is PUT YOUR FAMILY FIRST Part 2
When he was retiring at age 75 years as Chief Justice of the state, Justice Badesola was asked what gladdens him most in his more than 35 years career.
He said even though he made lots of money as a young lawyer he had always desired a spot on the Bench, so when the opportunity came he grabbed it with both hands.
I was transferred from one place to another, he said, made several pronouncements in court that stood the judicial test of higher courts even up to the Supreme Court.
My cases are hardly overturned, even when I was the head of a Tribunal that heard the case of a Governorship election all my decisions stood at the higher courts. That gladdened my heart.
Also, when I was privileged to become the Chief Justice of this state my Joy knew no bounds as it is the most prestigious position any judicial official can occupy in the state, so i was excited.
However, in all of these, one thing pre-occupied my mind, the fact that career will not last forever, and someone else will sit on your desk. The fact that one day you will have to knock before you enter your present office.
So i made my Family the centre of my Job and put them first. i poured my energy into my Marriage and parenting work. Today irrespective of how much I have achieved in career, I am most gladdened by my family. I am proud of what my Children have become.
It will not matter how much money you made throughout your career or how good you were at work when you retire.
In the end, the priceless memory will be the quality time shared with family and how well you raise your Children.
Attend to them now, Put your family first.
Career will end; you will either retire, resign or be retrenched. One of the three ‘’Rs’’ will surely happen to you, but your family will remain . Friends will abandon you, Fans will forget you but Family is constant with you. If there is anything you should remember today, it is PUT TING YOUR FAMILY FIRST.
