Majority of marriages today are on negative scales. Some that look good are on the last stage of the positive scale, they are just co-existing; may be because of the church, children, society, families, etc.
But the plan of God for your marriage is to have intimate partnership leading to ecstatic union and this you have if you can do the following:
1.Divinity focus. Constant prayer for and with your partner, genuine conversion of both parties involved, strong family altar, Bible based marriage and life -style, fear of God and God centered life. Psalm 127:1-5.
2.Total and continuous adjustment- Readiness to change and adjust, not being rigid and difficult. Bearing in mind that the person you marry is a different person entirely, he is of different background, temperament, belief, upbringing, etc. Hence, you are bound to think differently, act, react and behave in different ways. What will make your life pleasant is to be ready to change your habit, philosophy, attitude and normal ways of life. Your character is not cast in marble, you can change, be ready to change for better. (Proverb 10:17)
3.High Tension love. Genuine love, deep love, feeling of love, substance love, sacrificial love, total, intimate, hot passion, compassionate love, partners focus life- style, kindness, respect, total devotion to each other, “you” and “we” feeling. (SOS 2:4).
4.Total Acceptance- You can’t love your spouse except you’ve learnt to accept him/her. In fact, the summary of love in marriage is acceptance. Accepting your mates stature, outlook, habit, character, dressing, food, position, performance, etc will go a long way to stabilize your marriage as it help you to behave positively to your mate and eliminate complains, nagging, criticism, condemnation, strife, malice, vengeance and bitterness, thereby provoking positive actions and reactions.
5.Honour and Respect. Courtesy, continuous respect, high regard and honour of one’s spouse will lubricate the engine of any marriage. Nobody loves to be disrespected; nobody loves to be embarrassed, everybody gravitates towards people that give them high regard. Despite knowing your spouse weakness and inadequacies, you must still give him/her honour and respect due to him/her, this will help your mate to do the same to you; respect they say is reciprocal. (Ephesians 5:33)

Learn to forgive, your mate will continue to offend you till Jesus come, you will keep on offending him too, what will keep you going is the wheel of constant and quick forgiveness. Always remember that you are not perfect hence, forgive. Ephesians 4:26-32.
