8 FOOLISH THINGS YOU MUST DO TO SUCCEED
Bisi Adewale
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God are stronger than men. 1 Corinthians 1:25 KJV
This article’s title may look funny so much that you may even think it is a mistake or an error. I want to assure you this is not the case at all. You must do some foolish things to succeed because that is what it takes. People may see you as foolish but they will salute you later.
- THINK OUT OF THE BOX WHEN OTHERS CAN’T:Think of doing something they think is awkward; something they don’t expect or can’t imagine. If you want to be number one, someone said you must be ready to be an odd number. Think against their thinking patterns. Try to paint it white when it is always black and make it so even when people know it to be odd. Start it in the afternoon when it is known to start in the night in as much as there is no law against what you want to do. Be innovative and daring. That is what all inventors are known for
- BELIEVE IN YOURSELF IF OTHERS DON’T:Thank God it is not an election where majority carries the vote. This time, it is the voice of God and yours that matter, so believe in yourself. People will only start to believe in you when they see results. But results can only come when you are foolish enough to believe in yourself and that you can do it.
- BELIEVE IN YOUR VISION IF OTHERS WON’T:Nobody can see your dream with you; nobody can dream your vision. So don’t expect them to see what you can see or believe what you believe. If you want the applause of men before you start your vision, you will wait till eternity to make an impact. Believe in your dream enough to pursue it, even when they say it won’t work. They’ve been saying that for ages.
- DO SOMETHING NEW WHEN OTHERS MOCK:The Wright Brothers successfully designed, built and flew the first powered aircraft, showing that man could fly, marking one of the most important inventions of the twentieth century. The two brothers notified several newspapers before their historic flight, but only one, the Local Journal, made mention of the event. They never believed in them. Many were even mocking them, but they were focused. You all know the story today and the number of billions of dollars made every year because these brothers dared to try something new. Can you imagine the world without the aeroplane? The world is waiting for you. Don’t look at mockers. They mocked Noah too when he was building the ark but Noah lived to mock them. Get out and do it. Do something new.
- TRY IT AGAIN WHEN OTHERS RUN:Success is a marathon. It’s never a sprint. Try it again if it fails. I said, “IF IT” fails. I didn’t say when you fail. It was the project that failed not you. Lauren said,
“You don’t always win your battles, but it’s good to know you fought.”
So rise to raise your children again, knowing that what it means to succeed and fail in a venture is what is known as expertise. Go ahead; do it again, RE-DRAW, and never WITHDRAW.
- COUNT YOUR EGGS BEFORE THEY ARE LAID, WHEN OTHERS WILL NOT COUNT THEIRS EVEN WHEN THEY ARE LAID:It is always said that you must not count your eggs before they are laid, but if you want to succeed you must count your eggs even before they are laid. Plan, dream, have a goal, have a business plan, know your projected profit.
- PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET, WHEN OTHERS WILL HAVE PLANS A, B, C and D:You’ve been hearing, “Don’t put your eggs in one basket all your life.” This is wrong. Please put all your eggs in one basket. Just make sure it is the basket of God. Be focused; give 101 per cent attention, focus and concentrate on your vision, calling and purpose. Follow it through by thinking of it. Plan for it, do it now and do it again. The world will later know you with it; celebrate you in it and pay you for it.
- FOLLOW GOD’S DIRECTION EVEN IF THE WHOLE WORLD IS AGAINST YOU:Do whatever God says you should do even if you don’t understand why. Your family, friends and relatives may think you are foolish but be sure of one thing, you will laugh last. When God ordered Abraham out of his father’s house and country (Genesis 12:1-5), what do you think people in the town said to him? They mocked him of course! But he obeyed and ended up with great blessings of God. (Genesis 24:1)
