How Wrong Dressing Can Cause Marital Delay
Do you know that not dressing properly can hinder you from getting married at the right time?
People don’t know your house address or background but they base their assessment of you on your dressing. They form opinions on your personality based on what you put on before they actually know you. They relate with you based on your attires. That is why you must be very careful with the way you dress because it is possible to undress your destiny by dressing wrongly.
A brother who graduated with first-class in accounting went for an interview in a bank wearing local attires (buba and sokoto). When he appeared before the panel, they were all dazed. Though he answered all their questions correctly, he still lost the job because of inappropriate dressing.
Your dressing can determine whether you will marry early or late wrongly or rightly. That is why you need to be careful about what you put on. These are various dressings you must avoid:
(1) Negative dressing – Do not dress as if you are undressing. Dressing negatively means you are dressed in such a way that you expose some parts of your body; dresses that expose your nakedness. They do not portray you as disciplined. Clothes that portray you to guys as a sex symbol are ungodly. The slogan “If you have it, flaunt it” is not meant for those from godly families that desire blissful homes. If you dress negatively, guys will flock around you with one thing in mind-sex. They may pretend to love you, they may even be ready to do anything for you but they don’t love you; all they want is sex.
You will be disappointed after they have had their fill and dump you. Serious guys will not consider you but unserious ones will want you by all means, just for sex and fun not for marriage or commitment.
Clothes like spaghetti, body hug, mini skirts, micro mini skirt, see-through, etc are not meant for a “wife material” They are meant for harlots and unserious ladies. Any clothes that expose your breast, back, thigh, armpit or display the curve of your body, revealing your panties is not godly. If you succeed to win a man through this, he will turn around to be sleeping around later because he can never be a serious and disciplined man.
(2) Extreme Positive Dressing – This is another factor that may cause a delay in marriage. Unlike negative dressing, the extreme positive dressing does not expose nakedness but makes the wearer look haggard, old, dirty and unkempt. Some sisters can easily don a red skirt, yellow blouse, blue scarf, scarlet shoe, and brown bag, what a colour riot! Some sisters, though in their twenties, dress and look older than their grandmother. Some will do nothing to their hairs for weeks. Some others will go out with unironed clothes and unpolished shoes in the name of holiness. Such sisters should know that holiness is not synonymous with dirtiness.
In fact, cleanliness is next to godliness. Sarah was beautiful. So was Rebecca, were Racheal and Esther. I don’t know who you are taking after being dirty. If you want a young brother to marry you then stop dressing like a “grandma”. Dress cutely, nicely and neatly. Make it easier for brothers to accept you if God is leading them to you.
(3) Native Dressing- I will advise that those trusting God for life partners should avoid native wears (Iro and Buba) as much as possible. They are not sinful but make you look older and make you look like a married woman. If you want to look younger for God’s sake, put on modern clothes. Every guy out there desires a younger lady, not a “mama 70”
