Marriage and Touching: Add Spark to Your Marriage through Touch
-Bisi Adewale
Experts say we all need to be touched and that it is good for our well-being. The truth is that we all loved to be touched; touching your spouse is good for him/her and your marriage.
It was revealed that we were created with hundreds of thousands of microscopic nerve ending in our skin which are said to benefit from a loving touch.
Touch, especially a tender one from a loving person is good for all of us as it comforts, re-assures, consoles, removes our fears, motivates, encourages, entertains, gives pleasure, give us satisfaction and emotional security.
Though touching is good, but as we grow to adulthood we have less people that can touch us .Atimes the only time we can be privileged to be touched is when we are with our spouse, but painfully, most couples don’t touch each other except for sexual intercourse.
Our culture and custom do make us to ignore this vital thing in marriage. We manage to talk even during misunderstanding but we can hardly hold each other without having sex in view.
Touching is also very good for your marriage and breeds intimacy and fondness. It renews love and brings positive reactions. It also helps during crisis management and argument. Partners that hold or touch each other as they talk, to find a solution to a disagreement are likely going to “fight fair” instead of fighting dirty. Touching is very good for our family life.
The touching we are talking about is non-sexual physical caresses, holding of hands, placing hands on each other’s lap, resting on each other’s shoulder, snuggling, cuddling, embracing, sitting close to each other, allowing your body to touch each other, warm handshake (etc) as an important part of your marital life. This is not just occasional, you need her touch. She needs your touch; why not give it to each other. It has no side effect. No overdose, no expiring date. Wao! It is good for you.
