As we continue to unravel the fundamental laws of marriage, another germane law that will determine to what extent your marriage will go is the Law of Acceptance.

LAW OF ACCEPTANCE

Gen 2:23- And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man.

Accept your wife no matter the condition, your spouse is your val. Lack of acceptance is the source of polygamy, there is nothing that can destroy a woman’s self -esteem like negative words.

Accept your spouse the way he/she is. Your wife or husband cannot be somebody else. Your spouse may not match up with the picture you painted for yourself. One of the greatest secrets of marriage is to marry the person you love and love the person you married.

Accepting your spouse will make you do the following together:

LOOK UP TO GOD

Husbands and wives are to look up to God for a great Marriage. God is the manufacturer of marriage. Only His wisdom can make it work. When parties in a marriage make God their principal partner, they sign themselves up for a lifetime of peace and joy. (Psalm 127:1)

TAKE UP YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

To be responsible simply means you are performing your roles as it is supposed to be in a marriage. Irresponsibility is a key factor why marriages fail.

SHOW UP AT HOME

Home cannot be sweet when you are never at home. Being homely is a big sign of maturity in marriage. Homeliness is a great course in the school of family development.

SPEAK UP TO YOUR SPOUSE

Talking to your spouse must not be a luxury in your marriage. It’s a necessity. Communication is the blood of family relationship. Discuss with your spouse. Talk!

SPEAK UP FOR YOUR SPOUSE

Defend your spouse everywhere and anywhere. Protect your spouse. Be loyal totally and let it show on your face, in your mouth, everywhere, and any day.

TEAM UP WITH YOUR SPOUSE

You and your spouse must be teammates but not ‘fightmates’, not rivals. Team up with your spouse to make that marriage work, to make your family better financially and to raise Godly children.

DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR SPOUSE

Don’t give up on your spouse, no matter his or her weaknesses. Don’t give up, work together as a team. In a team, everybody has strengths and weaknesses; that is why it’s a team.

GIVE UP WRONG ATTITUDES

You know the wrong attitudes that hurt your spouse and make your marriage difficult. You’ve got to deal with them to make your marriage great.

LIFT UP YOUR MATE

In every team, there will be a need to lift up each other once in a while; it’s your duty to lift up your spouse. To motivate, encourage, support and build up your spouse is a lifetime duty.
