WHAT MARRIAGE IS NOT

Marriage is not a gift, it is not a bonus. You have to work for it; you have to earn it. To make your marriage what you want it to be, to have your dream marriage, you must roll your sleeves and earn it instead of wishing you have it. Marriage is not like a residual income that you work once and enjoy the benefit forever, it is like a linear or earned income you have to work for it.
WHAT MARRIAGE IS NOT
- Marriage is not a gift; you must work it out.
- Marriage is not a lottery; it doesn’t come by luck.
- Marriage is not a bonus, it doesn’t work by chance.
- Marriage is not a game; it doesn’t work by trick.
- Marriage is not an escalator; you will need to take the stairway.
- Marriage does not work by accident; you need to deliberately make it a success.
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR MARRIAGE
Your marriage is in your hands. Whatever happens to it is entirely in your hands. You need to do the following on your marriage:
WORK ON IT: Work on every area where your marriage is deficient.
WORK IN IT: Don’t run away from your marriage, take responsibility, stay and make it work.
WORK FOR IT: Always be on the side of your marriage; don’t work against it by fighting your spouse.
WORK THROUGH IT: Work through your marriage to get the best out of yourself and your spouse even in difficult situations.
WORK AT IT: No matter where you are, work to make your marriage work, in the secret, public, at work or at home.
WORK WITH IT: Use whatever you have to make your marriage a great success; use the entire instrument at your disposal to make your home a place to be.
WORK IT OUT: No matter the situation of your marriage now, work it out with your spouse. “Jaw-jaw” it; don’t “war-war” it. When you stop working, your marriage stops moving. Many people erroneously think marriage can work by putting it in autopilot, not at all. It is like cart pushing; you need to continue to push and pull it if it must work.
