5 GREAT MISTAKES PARENTS MAKE WITH BOYS
Parents make lots of mistakes with their sons. These result in difficult parenting and bad relationship with their boys. To parent boys rightly the following mistakes must be avoided:
1. Failure to lead to Christ and root your son in him
Failure to turn the attention of your son to Christ is a serious one. And leading him to Christ without rooting him in righteousness is another major error.
Solution: Make it your major parenting goal to lead and root all your children in Christ.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)
2. Thinking he is more important than girl
A lot of parents do think boys are better than girls thereby indulging them.
Solution: Treat all your children equally no matter their sex.
3. Treating boys like men
Some parents do treat their young boys as if they are men. This is totally wrong.
Solution: Give your boy responsibilities equal to his age. Treat a boy like a boy.
4. Too early liberty
Another mistake of parents is to give their preteen or teenage boy a lot of liberty to do anything he wants. This can lead him into drugs, sexual relationship and violence.
Solution: Your son should be under your rules and regulations and close monitoring until he becomes an adult.
5. Treating men like boys
When a boy grows up to become an adult, some parents still treat him like a boy. This can lead to rebellion and disobedience from him.
