MARRIAGE OF HONOURABLES – Part 1
Bisi Adewale
How to Respect Him:
Your love, affection, food and bedroom performance are not enough; you must bow down to honour your husband. Failure to do this is a true failure, a failure of character and a failure of marriage. How can you do this?
- Never overrule him in front of your children or outsiders.
- Never correct him like his mother will do, correct with love and submission, put it across like a suggestion not as a command.
- Give him the benefit of doubt. Assume he knows best. Say yes unless you have strong reasons to ask why.
- Take his correction with love and humility.
- Be his student.
- Always be ready to lose argument. If you are too sure you are right, pray about it.
- Make a list of his qualities that you appreciate, review and add to it regularly. Don’t forget to tell him.
- Never criticise him before others.
- When he is angry, put on the garment of meekness and quietness. One anger is big enough to destroy a home, don’t make it two.
- Respect his likes and dislikes.
- When he ‘brags’ like a man as he will often do, be ‘bright’ like a virtuous woman. When his voice rises, speak at almost whisper level that is what makes you a Godly woman.
- Never get yourself involved in what is known as Women Crazy Crowd (WCC), that always involve themselves in what is known as “MEN BASHING”. Some women do get together to discuss mistakes and shortcomings of their husbands. Never join them.
