Financial Wisdom for Wives Pt 2

Financial Wisdom for Wives Pt 2

Bisi Adewale

This is the continuation of my last article if you really desire financial rest as a wife. Money is one of the major determinants of a successful marriage; therefore you can get the wisdom to make your marriage work from this article

1. AVOID WILD WIND CELEBRATION. In this part of the world, we celebrate everything, ranging from job promotion, new house, car (even if its second hand), birthday, naming ceremony, etc. There is nothing wrong in appreciating God for His kind gesture towards us or celebrating, but in a situation whereby you have no solid financial base, no investment or adequate plan for the future, it is financial suicide to throw wild wind birthday party for your baby who just clock one year old, five-year-old or ten-year-old. Be wise, why you should spend all your savings on a party; distributing customized exercise, pencils, T.shirts, branded Nylon, surplus food and drinks feeding people that are not hungry; all in the name of celebration. Please don’t push your husband into this wild wind celebration. If you do, you will suffer for it tomorrow. Don’t be deceived with the fact that the money is flowing or he is earning big. He may be earning big but he is saving or investing big? Many that throw party lavishly yesteryears ended up throwing themselves into poverty today, don’t join them.
2. BUY A CAR THAT IS EASY TO MAINTAIN. Ensure that you buy a car that is easy to maintain. There’re cars whose spare part are scarce and difficult to maintain here in Nigeria. Such cars have very few service personnel and workshops. The few available ones are very expensive thereby increasing your monthly expenses. I will advise that you be very careful if you must buy a second handed vehicle; you will need the service of a trusted expert before you put your money on it; otherwise, it may become a source of financial drain to you. If you must buy a fairly used, go for fuel saving brand like the Japanese cars.
3. CULTIVATE A SAVING CULTURE. There’re always temptation to spend and buy everything that appeals to your eyes, especially now that all adverts is tailored towards women and children. No matter how small your earning is, save something. A little drop of water makes a mighty ocean. Be disciplined about it, increase your financial base because days of opportunity will come that you will need emergency funds. Save now, save your future.
