  • Teenagers are the set of people between 13 and 19 years
  • Most of them are in college while some are in the university and a good number are already working
  • Many of them are still at the puberty stage, between 13 and 16
  • They are full of life and energy
  • They prefer to be with their friends than with their parents
  • They are easily attracted to the opposite sex
  • They do have mood swings due to hormones changes in their bodies
  • Peer pressure can easily crush them
  • Some can be arrogant and proud, thinking they know everything
  • They hate it when they are dictated to
  • They are not kids; and, they often think they are adults. But they cannot face the challenges and responsibilities peculiar to adults without cracking under the strain
  • Sexual pressure is always high for them because of puberty
  • Academic challenges can easily get to them
  • Most of them have problems with low self-esteem
  • Low self-esteem is a thinking disorder in which an individual views him/herself as an inadequate, unworthy, unlovable, and/or incompetent person. Once formed, this negative view of self permeates every thought, producing faulty assumptions and ongoing self-defeating behaviour.
  • About twenty percent of teens will experience depression before they reach adulthood
  • Seven in ten girls believe that they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school, and relationships with friends and family members
  • They are dramatic, irrational, and scream for seemingly no reason. And they have a deep need for both greater independence and tender loving care
  • They question a lot of things that they didn’t use to question
  • They are not looking for a boss; they are looking for a friend and leader in their parents
  • If you give them the room they will talk with you
  • They enjoy compliments and appreciation. Do you give them as a parent?
  • Both physical and cyber bully can affect them
  • They desire to go into a love affair quickly
  • Many of them are full of fear and anxiety

  • They are very close to their phones; they send text messages more than email
  • They love you but will not want to be seen with you in public; they do not want to be called daddy’s or mummy’s boy or girl
  • Talk to them, do not talk at them; they appreciate this so much
  • If you always dictating you are calling for rebellion
