Why Many Couple will not experience Oneness
During the wedding, many HANDS are joined together with MINDS far apart. Oneness involves the joining of both HANDS and MINDS to make your marriage a worthwhile experience. There is no way couples can experience a successful marriage without the spirit of oneness.
Certain things hinder oneness in marriage and we must be careful in handling them. Some of these are highlighted below:
1. Third-party Interference. You must not allow anybody (no matter how close) to come between you and your spouse. Your children, father, mother, friends, siblings, colleagues, neighbours, etc; belong to the third party group in your marriage. They must not be allowed to take over your marriage. Ecclesiastes. 4:9
2. Lack of forgiveness. If you must be one, then you must forgive.
3. Failure to accept. To enhance oneness, you must accept your partner as he or she is. It is usually very difficult to change anybody.
4. Bad communication. Criticism, abusive words, silence, malice, etc are all enemies of good
communication. Proverbs 15:1
5. Selfishness. It takes two selfless people to be one.
6. Bad character. Laziness, oversleeping, anger, nagging, etc are all enemies of oneness. Proverbs 16:32
7. Ignorance. Lack of adequate knowledge about love, sex, marriage and relationship in general is another enemy of oneness in marriage.
8. Unfaithfulness. Please be faithful to each other.
9. Sexual denial. Wrong use of sex through denial, rejection, bad response on bed or marital rape works against oneness.
10. Bad crisis management. If crises are not well managed, they can destroy oneness.
11. Secrecy. Keeping secret will work against oneness in marriage.
