13 IMPORTANT THINGS TO ALWAYS DISCUSS IN MARRIAGE

If your marriage must be pleasant and wonderful, you’ve got to talk regularly. You must hold regular marital meetings. When communication stops, frustration and confusion are the next bus stops. Your discussion must centre on the following things for your communication to be effective and impactful:
- TALK ABOUT SPIRITUAL LIFE: Talk about your spirituality, prayer life, fasting, Bible study, Church, service unto God, giving, tithing etc.
- TALK ABOUT THE PAST: Talk about your past as much as possible. Talking about the past may make your spouse understand the present and future more than anything.
- TALK ABOUT VISION: Lots of couples never talk about their visions. That is why they are not moving forward. Talk about your vision and plan about how to pursue it together.
- TALK ABOUT PROJECTS: Don’t just talk about vision, talk about your projects too. Plan about it together, save towards it. Always have visions and projects you are pursuing.
- TALK ABOUT LIKES AND DISLIKES: Discuss together what you like or dislike. Your spouse cannot read your mind; you are the one that can do it for him or her. Effective communication has many things to do with exposing your mindset.
- TALK ABOUT EXTENDED FAMILY: Talk positively about your extended family. Let your spouse know what is going on between you and them. Do not hide anything about your family.
- TALK ABOUT FAMILY POLICY: Discuss and formulate family policies and values. This will help your decision even when you are not together. It will also help your children when they are alone in the wild world.
- TALK ABOUT MONEY: Discuss money, how to make it, save it, spend it and invest it. Talk about your family financial policy, your family account system, etc.
- TALK ABOUT FUTURE: Talk about the future. Where do you see yourself in five, ten, twenty years? Discuss how to get there.
- TALK ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN: Talk about your children, your plans for them, your vision for them, your challenges about them, your parenting styles, etc.
- TALK ABOUT YOUR CAREER AND JOBS: Discuss your jobs, business, ministry, career, etc.
- TALK ABOUT YOUR MARRIAGE: Always discuss your matrimonial life, talk about your love life, sex life, time together, plans, conflict resolution, money management, leadership, balancing family, jobs and lots more.
- TALK ABOUT SEX: Married couples hardly talk about their sex life. They fight regularly about it but will never discuss it except they are fighting about it, this is wrong. Talk about your sex life, what you want, how you want it, when you want it, the frequency, styles, your likes, dislikes, desire, fantasy, etc.
