Love, infatuation and lust appear alike but they are not the same thing. The two are erroneously misinterpreted for LOVE.
So when a man says “I love you” be careful. He may be lusting after you.
Do not be in haste to dance to the tune of that sweet-tongued brother. It takes time to know whether a guy really loves you or not.
Eleven questions to test whether a man loves you or not:
- Ask him whether he is born again – It takes a regenerated heart to have the true love defined in I Corinthians 13. An unbeliever is either infatuated or lustful. A man that is not born again is not the right husband for you. NEVER MARRY AN UNBELIEVER.
- Ask him what he really likes in you – If he says it is your hair, eye, body etc., know that he is not really in love with you. He is only infatuated by your body.
- Ask him how soon he wants sex – If he wants sex before wedding, please know that he does not love you. He only wants to satisfy himself and leave. True love waits. Lust wants sex and wants it now!
- How much does he love God? If he does not love God, he cannot love you. Since he is not serving God, he is a servant of the devil. Don’t marry him. If you marry somebody that does not fear God, you have made the devil your father-in-law.
- How soon is he ready to forgive you when you offend him? If he is the type that keeps record of old quarrels, he is not likely in love with you.
- Is he only interested in collecting things from you with no interest of giving? – Love becomes robbery if it only collects and does not give.
- Does he encourage you to obey or disobey God? – Anybody that truly loves you will never want you to offend God.
- Is he always happy to see you? – A man that truly loves you will celebrate you; he will not be tolerating your presence.
- Is he proud of you? Is he ready to introduce you to his friends and family members? If he is not proud of you, then he is not in love with you.
- Is he ready to tell you his past life and experiences or you feel he is hiding some things from you? If he truly loves you, he will not hide his past from you.
- Is he truthful and faithful? If he is not, don’t believe him when he say he loves you.
