HOW TO BUILD A SUPERB MARRIAGE

A superb marriage needs positive actions and concerted efforts to come to be. It doesn’t happen by accident or wishful thinking or by prayer and fasting without effort; you can’t just find yourself in it by faith, confession, by Holy Communion, feet washing, deliverance or even anointing service. While all these will help your marriage, it takes much more to make your home a blissful one.
- BE A POSITIVE PARTNER: To build a superb marriage, you’ve got to be a positive partner. To be a positive partner, you must do the following:
- Think positively about your spouse, marriage, in-laws, etc. (Proverbs 4:23)
- Talk Positively: Speak positively about your husband/wife anywhere. Also, married couples should talk to each other positively. Your words must always carry grace and joy to your spouse. (Proverbs 4:29)
- Act Positively: Let your attitude exude positivity. Never act to hurt. Endeavour to build up your spouse always. Act maturely, peacefully, and let your character be a big plus to your spouse.
- BE A GIVING PARTNER: Be on the giving side of life. Do not be a collector or receiver. Learn the art of giving.
- BE A FORGIVING PARTNER: You’ve got to learn to forgive your spouse if you want a superb marriage. Let me warn you, your spouse will offend or hurt you. Forgiveness is the key.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32 KJV)
- BE ON THE SERVICE CORNER: Be ready to serve and appreciate service rendered by your spouse. When two committed servants marry each other, their result is always a superb marriage.
- BE A LEARNING PARTNER: Get committed to learning and improvement; get committed to training and reading. Don’t ever feel that you’ve arrived at any time in your marriage. Marriage is a journey, not a destination. (Proverbs 9:9)
- BE A LOVER FOREVER: Learners can become better lovers. Lovers are builders of homes. Be committed to a lifelong love affair. Build a superb marriage on the back of love and affection. (Songs of Solomon 2:4)
- BE INCURABLY ROMANTIC: Being romantic simply means giving pleasure and fun to your spouse. So, go ahead! Donate pleasure and fun, make joy happen. Touch your spouse, kiss and make love generously. That is what makes marriage a glorious one.
