11 THINGS YOU MUST INVEST INTO YOUR MARRIAGE
Successful marriages are reserved for those who are willing to invest. What you put into your marriage will definitely show later in life. If you invest nothing, you get nothing.
Many trust God for everything without getting ready to do anything. They feel they are being spiritual; they may not have read this scripture:
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” 1 Corinthians 3:6 KJV
‘Paul’ has to plant; ‘Apollos’ has to water before God will bring increase that you desire in your marriage.
What are the things you must plant in your marriage to get the result you ever desire?
1. PRAYER
Prayer is one important investment you must put into your marriage. Prayer makes your journey easier and your life smoother as it brings God into your situation. Create time to pray together as a couple and as an individual in that marriage and as a family.
2. TIME
Spending time at home can never be too much; it can rather be too little. Invest time in your marriage; be at home. You can’t be a great spouse when you are always on the road. It takes time to make love glow; it takes time to make a marriage great. Spend time together to jell, to intimate and to build a great marriage.
3. EFFORT
Your marriage can never be great when you put it in ‘auto drive’. Make an effort to make it great and better; pay the price. Don’t give up on your marriage; don’t allow it to sail by the wind, take control.
4. FORGIVENESS
You are married to an imperfect person and both of you will offend each other. You will likely hurt each other as you journey together in life. One great thing that will sustain you, in the long run, is forgiveness. You will be able to withstand the storm together if you don’t allow an offence to stay and live in your heart, learn to forgive.
5. MEDALS
Your glory, medals, celebrity status, importance, family background, your position in the office, society or ministry will have to be invested if you want a great marriage. You can’t be bragging about who you are and your position and not become proud and cocky. You can’t become cocky and be a great spouse.
6. GOOD THINKING
Thinking right they say is living right. Until you learn to think right, you can’t have a great marriage. Think right about your spouse, believe you married the best, and don’t allow your mind to stray to other people, assure yourself your spouse is the best.
7. GOOD WORDS
Invest the right words, good words. Speak right and speak well. Good words breed good thinking, good actions and good reactions. You will see the chain of goodness become long when you are speaking right.
8. RELATIONSHIPS
There are relationships you have to let go if you want your marriage to be great. Your siblings, parents, relatives will no longer be number one in your life, your spouse becomes the principal figure in all you do. You have to be biased totally in your spouse’s favour. Friends will know less of you, while your spouse takes the centre stage, which is what marriage is all about.
9. FINANCES
Spend your money on your marriage. Let your family enjoy your income. Your spouse and children must never say you are stingy.
10. ROMANCE
Spend time to be romantic and play with your spouse. Talk, touch, hug, peck, cuddle, kiss and have sex generously.
11. SEX
Sex in your marriage must never be boring or shallow; it must be tantalizing and terrific. Be creative about sex, it is a gift from God to married people. Take time to enjoy it.
