DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE-A successful marriage is a product of divine-human partnership. You must understand this partnership,keep it jealously and do all you can to make it a success. Then you can have rest in your marriage and the generation of your children will even be protected.

I (PAUL)have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. People do wrongly believe that marriage involves only two people, husband and wife.This is wrong.Marriage involves three important personalities,very important for its success. Failure to recognize the usefulness of each of these parties will spell doom for any family. The scripture above clearly shows these three important personalities.   • THE MAN: He is the PAUL THAT PLANTED,the husband,the head of the familyand father of the children.The Bible commands that he should do the following:
  • Love his wife (Ephesian 5:25)
  • Live joyfully with his wife (Ecclesiastes 9:9)
  • Give his body wholly to his wife (1 Corinthians 7:1-5)
  • Provide for his family (1 Timothy 5:8)
  • Train up his children (Proverbs 22:6)
  • Be a good leader
  • Lead with vision (Habakuk 2:2)
  • Teach his children the way of the Lord
  • Not provoke his children to wrath
  • Praise his wife
  • Be committed to only one wife not run after women.DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
  • Flee from alcohol
  • Not sleep with any other woman
  • Be satisfied with the breast of his wife at all times
  • THE WOMAN: She is the wife and the APOLLOS THAT WATER what the husband has planted. She is planted into the life of her husband as a helper(the wetter). She carries out the following roles:
  • Helps her husband (Genesis 2:18)
  • Keeps the house
  • Belongs to her husband
  • Dresses rightly
  • Cooks very well
  • Cares for the children
  • Prays for her husband
  • Follows her husband
  • Is trust worthy
  • GOD: The almighty GOD THAT ADDS INCREASE is the true head of the family. The man at home is just representing him.DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE

WHAT TO DO TO GOD IN YOUR HOME

  • Give your life to him
  • Make him the senior partner in your home

And the Lord said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them. And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? (Deuteronomy10:11-13 KJV)

The scripture above shows us five things husband and wife who are the Paul and Silas,the planter and the wetter at home are to do to God who only can bring increase in their life and home.DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE

  • They must fear God
  • Walk in his ways
  • Love him
  • Serve him with all their hearts and souls
  • Keep the commandments and statues of the Lord
  • Not make God a tenant in their home; make him the senior PARTNER

Remember the poster Christians used to hang in their houses in those days:

“CHRIST IS THE HEAD OF THIS HOUSE
THE UNSEEN GUEST AT EVERY MEAL TIME

THE CHIEF PRIEST AT EVERY PRAYER TIME”

I think you need to hang this in your house. Not only that, let the Lord truly take over. No matter how good,rich,knowledgeable,wise or nice you are you can’t make that marriage work without the grace of God. Remember:
PAUL (REPRESENTING HUSBAND) CAN PLANT
SILAS(REPRESENTING WIFE) CAN WATER
ONLY GOD CAN BRING INCREASE.

FORMS OF DIVINE RELATIONSHIP IN MARRIAGE

There are two forms of divinely arranged relationships that can make your marriage work and turn your family life around forever. They are:

TWOSOME RELATIONSHIP
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labourEcclesiastes4:9 (KJV).

God commands you to have a united marriage with your spouse.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed Genesis2:24-25 KJV.

Two of you must stand together in everything. The planter should support the wetter;the wetter should celebrate the planter, working together as a team so as to bring God into the family (Psalm 133:1-2).

THREESOME RELATIONSHIP.DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE

Two fold cords are easily broken in marriage by wind,persecution,problems,challenges,frustration,childlessness,friends,in laws and so on. But three fold cords can stand forever; that is why husband and wife must not just stand alone,they must allow God to uphold them. This is threesome relationship.
And if one prevails against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes4:12 KJV).Without three cords you cannot stand alone; you need God at every phase of your family life(Psalm 127:1-3). DIVINE PARTNERSHIP FOR A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
