The role of a Shepherd in the Lord’s Vineyard is not limited to male alone, equal task is given to us female as well to bear fruit and make sure our fruits abide, nurturing them into healthy spiritual growth.
Female Shepherd is a Christian Sister/Woman whose duty is to take care, guide and feed the people around her so that they will grow in the Lord and not go astray. She is also a woman who has been assigned and committed to the leadership role in the Lord’s Vineyard e. g Pastor’s wives, female ministers, Departmental heads, Good women leaders and all Christian mothers. They monitor and oversee the affairs of others, her family inclusive.
Biblical example of female Shepherd include: Deborah, the wife of Lapidoth, Dorcas, Esther, Hannah, Abigael, Proverbs 31 woman etc.
Some of the duties the Lord has committed in our hands include:
1. To teach and lead the sheep aright with godly manners.
2. To feed the flock and look for the lost sheep
3. To encourage the flock to move on and not be discouraged or go back
4. To protect the Lord’s house and people
5. To stand in the gap in prayer for the flock
6. To keep watch for the Master’s return and continually remind others to be ready
God’s promise for a good Shepherd are: covenant of peace, blessings all round, protection, safety etc.
Note that Jesus the Shepherd of shepherds who is the Overseer of our souls will soon appear to reward the Shepherds and the flocks accordingly.
