18 THINGS THAT MAKE A TOTAL MAN

Since physical things do not make a total man, we need to check things that make the difference between an ordinary man and a Total man. First, let try to define who a total Man is:

“A Total Man” for me, personally is someone with the fear of God, true Dignity, Integrity, and willing to sacrifice himself to take care of others.”A Total Man” is someone who has the up most respect for Women, therefore does not harm them in any way.”A total Man” is someone who doesn’t give up easily and would have the Mentality of a Winner living in hope and Faith.

A total man is a nobleman known at the gates among the elders of the land.

“Her husband is known in the gates when he sitteth among the elders of the land.” Proverbs 31:23 KJV

This is made possible because of the following qualities: 

1. FEAR OF GOD: A man’s fear of God makes him a real man, not his outlook. A man that fears God will be able to stand on his feet anywhere in the world as no law can stand against him.

2. VISION: You can’t be a real man if what you do all day is to watch television. You do not have a vision of Heaven, yourself and your family. A real man is a man of vision and purpose. He lives for a reason, not just for a season. He lives to make things happen in the Kingdom of God, for himself, for his family and the society in general.

3. DIRECTION: A real man is of divine direction. He knows where he is going through the wisdom of God and his direction. He does not follow the trend. He does his things as the Lord directs him.

4. WISDOM: He is a man of absolute wisdom of God. Like David in the house of Saul, he knows how to carry himself in the wisdom of God.

5. GOOD ASSOCIATION: He will never be seen among men without the fear of God and who are given to frivolities or immoralities. He also knows that:

“It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.” Ecclesiastes 7:5 KJV

So, he prefers to be among the wise and get their rebuke rather than hear the praise-singing of fools.

6. FOCUS: He is a man of focus. He does not change his direction because of what is happening around him and because of people. Rather, he is focused on his purpose and his vision that no distraction can come his way.

7. DILIGENCE: “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” Proverbs 12:24 KJV

 He is a hard-working man, not looking unto anyone to feed him and his family.

8. PRUDENCE: To be a real man, you must be prudent in handling money, time and other resources. This is a virtue that is in scarce supply nowadays. A real man has it.

9. FAMILY MINDEDNESS: “And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.” Genesis 7:7 KJV

Noah did not enter the ark alone, he went with his family. He was a real man.

Every real man is a family man. He is yoked with his family and he does everything to cater for and protect his wife and children.

10. ONE WOMAN MINDEDNESS: The Lord commanded men never to give their strength to women.

“Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.” Proverbs 31:3 KJV

The Lord also spoke about finding a virtuous woman:

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:3, 10 KJV

A real man knows that his life and destiny should surround only one woman and he is doing just that. He is not a man who loves one thousand women in one way, but a man who loves one woman in one thousand ways.

11. RESPONSIBILITY: “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” 1 Timothy 5:8 KJV

He is a very responsible man, meeting the needs of his family.

12. LEADERSHIP: “Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.” Proverbs 27:23 KJV

A real man has grown up to be a leader. He leads himself, his family and his society.

13. INTEGRITY: “Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.” Proverbs 19:1 KJV

“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7 KJV

A real man can be trusted. His words are bound and he walks in integrity.

14. GODLY ATTITUDE: He has the right attitude to time, money, women, sleep, food, drink, marriage, people, leaders, followers, work, rest, etc. He is an upright man, living by the grace of God.

15. GODLY CHARACTER: He is a man of a wholesome character. He has been able to deal with all known negative character, his life is still a work in progress and he is working on himself daily.

16. FAITHFULNESS: He is faithful to his marital vows. He is proud of his wife, not flirting with any other lady.

17. HUMILITY: One character a real man is known with is humility. No matter what he becomes, he is aware that there is nothing he has that he was not given. He is not proud and cocky in his approach to life

18. SELF CONTROL AND DISCIPLINE: While lots of men are like a city without walls, a real man is not like that. He has absolute control over his thoughts and emotions. He is not given to lust and sexual immorality; he controls anger and acts always with wisdom.
