I Want To Marry Her But My Parents Said No!

Hello Counselor,

please I need your counsel on this issue that has been bothering my mind. I am a young man of 29 years old, a banker, I work with one of the reputable banks here in Lagos. I Want To Marry Her But My Parents Said No!

Last year, I met a young lady, who happened to be a CEO of an insurance company at a seminar. After the seminar we both exchange numbers and started calling each other also fixing appointment. We started dating (no sexual immorality), we both love each other and promised to get married. It was later I got to know that She is 6 years older than me (35years). Though I look more older than her, this is because she has a very small stature and a baby face.I Want To Marry Her But My Parents Said No!

Since people always says age is just a number in marriage, I decided to move on with her. But the problem started the day I took her to my uncle who is now representing my dad, because I lost my dad at a tender age. After the normal welcoming, he called me into his bedroom and asked me some questions which he did not ask in the sitting room. He asked about the lady’s age, which I told him the truth. On hearing this he shouted on me, calling me OLE (thief). He claimed that I want to marry her just because of money and her position in the society. I tried to convinced him but he refused to listen, so I got angry and left his house with the lady.

He later called the rest of the family and asked them not to support our union. I Want To Marry Her But My Parents Said No!

I truly love this lady, and I will rather remain a single than not marrying Omolola. Though we have no problem from her people except from my people.I Want To Marry Her But My Parents Said No!

Being in love can be very interesting and a times challenging. Especially,in a situation like this when a stumbling block is being erected on the path of two lovebirds.

please be aware, that in choosing a life-partner,you need to be careful and note all the signs happening around you at that time because God may be using your family to stop you from going into wrong marriage.

So,instead of fighting them or getting married without their consent;check your conviction again and again.Pray,check her character,and spiritual level.Can she submit to you despite her age and position at work? if your answer is no,please don’t marry her but if your answer is yes!Then,both of you should take the matter to God who can touch the heart of your family.Also,look for somebody well-respected to speak to your father on your behalf.
