RUN YOUR OWN RACE
Janet and Jacob called it quit in their relationship some months ago. Just few weeks later, Jacob started posting pictures of himself with his new beautiful girlfriend on social media platforms. To be frank, Rose the new girl in the block is very beautiful.
Janet feels jealous and envious. To add to her problems, her friend with whom she just had a big fight is about getting married and her pre-wedding pictures are everywhere.
With the pressure mounting, she decided to accept the proposal of one random rich guy who has been troubling her for a while.
Now she posts pictures of her and her newfound love in different exotic cars so she can ‘pepper’ Joseph and her former friend.
She posted lots of pictures of herself and the guy in Dubai, Paris and different parts of the world. She seems to be enjoying the moment, sharing pictures of herself in different Malls buying expensive things.
Weeks later, her picture appeared on TV. She was caught smuggling drugs to Singapore. She denied any wrongdoing claiming it was her boyfriend’s luggage. She’s now in Prison awaiting trial.
Life is not a competition. It’s interesting to note that we run different time zones, when it’s 3pm in Lagos it’s about 9am in Texas. That doesn’t mean Texas is behind Lagos, rather they run different times zones.
Your classmates are married and you can’t wait to get married too in order to post pictures and show that you’ve arrived. The marriage can be to anybody you don’t really care, what matters is the ring.
Be careful, many who did that now regret their decision. Don’t join the statistics.
Stop running by clocks of others, celebrate those that have made it and face your own journey.
Celebrate where you are; develop a vision for where you want to be. Then, get a partner with whom you can fulfil the vision. Life is not about how fast but how well.
Run your own race!
