BUILDING FRIENDSHIP FOR A BLISSFUL MARRIAGE

Most married couples do neglect the friendship aspect of their marriages. Though they all started as friends they do allow friendship to die immediately after the honey moon. The results of this negligence are chaos, trouble, crisis, bitterness, resentment, separation and at times divorce.
At times one would wonder how jolly friends of yesterday grew up to become sworn enemies of today. How companions grew up to become combatants? REASON: They never care to nurture the friendship aspect of their marriage, thereby turning their friendship haven to a battle field.
IMPORTANCE OF FRIENDSHIP IN MARRIAGE
If there is true friendship between a husband and wife, their marriage avoids landing on the rocks. Instead, it becomes a rock-hard marriage where no individual, problem, situation or circumstance can put it asunder.
Let us check some of the reasons that compel you to develop friendship in marriage:
- It makes marriage enjoyable: Friendship makes marriage a fun, how wonderful it is when you live all the rest of your life, all your days, beside your friend.
- It removes loneliness: Friendship is the antidote to loneliness. Getting married brings alongside a lot of responsibilities, which may be too difficult except we encourage and practice an absolute friendly relationship. This tends to make tedious labour bearable and it brings glamour to a tasking job.
- Friendship also makes spouses stronger: “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him, and a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Eccl 4:12)
- It brings better result:“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labour (Eccl 4:9).
- It prevents Failure: “For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow, but woe to him that is alone when he falleth, for he hath not another to have lift him up. (Eccl 4:12).
- It makes communication easier
- It is easier for couples who are friends to talk: They gist, gossip, crack jokes, plan, throw banters and takes difficult decisions in the atmosphere of humour.
- It makes marriage to be more romantic. Friends spend more time together; talking, playing, joking and working. The more friendly couples are, the more romantic their marriage becomes.
- Improve sex life. The more romantic a marriage is, the more enjoyable your sex life will become; as it will be taking place in the atmosphere of love, joy, acceptance and peace.
