Cheating by having extramarital affairs in marriage is the reason many marriages are crashing today; it is destroying the fabric of matrimony and families.
This simply means to be sexually unfaithful to one’s spouse. It means to have sex with someone else apart from one’s marriage partner.
24 REASONS FOR CHEATING IN MARRIAGE
- Lack of the fear of God (Rev. 14:7)
- Lack of contentment (1 Tim.6:6)
- Lack of commitment to marriage vows
- Lack of sexual fulfilment (Prov. 5:19)
- Unholy curiosity
- Wrong association (Prov. 31:6)
- Drunkenness (Prov. 31:6)
- Misuse of drugs
- Unnecessary closeness to someone (opposite sex) apart from one’s spouse (Prov. 31:3)
- Lust, pornography, unholy books and magazines, blue films and sexy home videos
- Getting emotionally involved with any woman or man apart from one’s spouse.
- Overconfidence in our ability to withstand temptation. (1 Cor. 10:12)
- Secret sexual fantasies were undisclosed to one’s spouse.
- Gluttony– Love of food has entangled some men to strange women
- Indiscipline- Failure to control emotion and passion
- Too long separation from one’s spouse because of job and ministry.
- Vengeance-Some men do resort to unfaithfulness to pay a cheating partner back.
- Long separation because of marital crisis can encourage infidelity.
- Modern-day contraceptive devices that prevent pregnancy have further encouraged infidelity among women and men from shameful pregnancy and lots more.
- Modern-day business world that allows guys and ladies to travel together on official duties and stay in the same hotels or motels for days also encourages infidelity.
- Night crawling
- Search for intimacy, love, care and acceptance.
- Carelessness-careless relationship with the opposite sex.
- Seduction (Prov. 6:24 26, Prov. 5:1-11)
WAYS OUT THIS PROMISCUOUS ATTITUDE
If you have been falling into sexual sins (infidelity), there is a way out for you. Stop the ungodly act now! Before it ruins and destroys your life.
– Awareness of your weakness (2 Pet. 2: 14). Know your weaknesses and avoid anything that will put you into trouble.
– Runaway from appearances of evil. Avoid unholy interaction with the opposite sex; leave any place where sexual discussion or activities are going on. Know the limit of any discussion with the opposite sex.
– Experience the joy of intimate sex with your spouse.
– Pledge and vow yourself to righteousness, to sexual purity.
– Expose any sexual desire towards any other person to your wife or a trusted friend.
– Be prayerful- Commit your emotion to God.
– Deliberately break your relationship with your sinful partners, avoid contact with them, and commit yourself to God.
– Stop now, if you are already in it. Break it now; tell your pastor and your spouse, asking for forgiveness.
– Read, study and meditate on the word of God
