7 MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS

There are many roles parent most perform in their quest to raise Godly Children, parents who are able to perform these roles successfully always end successful and happy parents, these roles are:
1: LEAD HIM TO CHRIST
Do this deliberately. Lead your child to Christ. It is your duty, to take your child to his saviour.
The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth (Isaiah 38:19 KJV).
2: ROOT HIM IN CHRIST
Leading him to Christ is not enough; root him in him.
When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands (2 Timothy 1:5, 6 KJV.
3: NURTURE THEM
To nurture means to help to grow, to develop, to provide nourishment and bring up. So go ahead; help your child to grow and develop in the Lord. Make provision for necessary spiritual materials that enhance this. Books, godly films, tapes and so on will help him to grow up in the admonition of Christ.
And, ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4 KJV).
4: PRAY FOR THEM
Always remember that you are a co-parent; the real parent is God. The child is his; he is his heritage.
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth (Psalms 127:3, 4 KJV)
Remember that except the Lord build the house the labourer will labour in vain.
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain (Psalms 127:1 KJV).
Your efforts will amount to nothing until you hand him over to God. He is the one that can truly teach him. So, take your child regularly to God in prayer, make him your prayer project all the days of your life.
And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children (Isaiah 54:13 KJV).
5: GOVERN THEM
A government provides rules, regulations, order and security. You are the government in your home. Let there be clear rules and regulations and security there. That is why you are a parent.
“One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity‚Ķ” (1 Timothy 3:4 KJV)
6: BE A MODEL
Do not just train him for God; train him in God. In other words, demonstrate what you want him to be. That is the best way to teach him the way he should go. For instance, if you don’t want him to tell lies then stop telling lies. Make him a model of righteousness.
The bible must be in your own heart before you can teach him what it says.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates (Deuteronomy 6:6-9 KJV).
Do not just train for God; train in God.
7: GIVE THEM DIRECTION
From childhood let your child have direction in life. Teach him how and where to go. He must not live his life like a sheep without a shepherd or like a ship without a rudder. Give him direction; the path to tread and when he is old he will not depart from it.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15 KJV).
