RUTH: A DESCRIPTION OF A NOBLE CHARACTER

Ruth was a woman that was described in the scriptures as a woman of a noble character. This character of hers distinguished her from her counterparts, brought her to a place of fulfilment and made her a name in history.
Ruth, a moabite left her background, her religious belief, her family and loved ones and clung to her mother-in-law. Despite the fact that her husband was no more, she saw the need to hold tightly to her mother-in-law even when she was persuaded to return to her people. She refused to go back like her other Sister Orpah. She decided to leave everything in order to gain Christ (Ruth 1:16-17).
She was described as a woman who was morally sound, generous, hardworking, thoughtful in a way that is admirable. She was a lover of God who preferred to be identified with the Most High God than going back to worship idols. Being a stranger from the covenant of promise and having no hope and without God, she chose to be a worshipper of Jehovah, the God of Israel. She made the best decision that every wise person should make. She loved God so dearly and proved her love for her mother-in-law’s God, saying: “—— your people shall be my people, and your God shall be my God——“.
She was hardworking and generous as these are great virtues that men are really looking for in their women. Ruth never left her mother-in-law to starve to death, neither did she leave her to fend for herself. She rose up and took up the responsibility of going out in the morning to pick grain in Boaz’s field. She was noted for this virtue by the labourers working for Boaz.
Like Ruth, every woman is expected to put on good character. Charming behaviour that will draw people closer and through which we will be able to impact lives positively. But we should first have a good relationship with God for this is the foundation on which every other thing is built.
