10 RED FLAGS IN MARRIAGE
10 RED FLAGS IN MARRIAGE

Many times, a couple allows their marriage to get to a very terrible level before they begin to run helter-skelter in a bid to salvage it. Many carelessly watch their marriages go down the drain doing little or nothing to restore their home. And in some cases, many continue to do the wrong things, compounding the problems in their marriages.

Red flags are those things that serve as signals or symptoms of imminent danger. If you notice them in your marriage, don’t relax or just watch. No! Rise up to do something to help your home. It is not the time to cry or indulge in self-pity. Rather, it is time to rise up, to fight for your marriage and defend your family. What are these red flags?

  1. You and your spouse withdraw from each other and each of you enjoys being alone than being together.
  2. And when you are together, you do separate things. While the woman is busy watching a movie, the man attends to his computer. You hardly do things in common; this is a red signal.
  3. You hardly talk. When you talk, your discussion centres around matrimonial issues like payment of rents, school fees, food stuffs, children and so on.
  4. You have nothing nice to say to each other. You only speak to hurt each other, saying things like: “I regret marrying you”, “You look ugly”, “You are an Idiot”, “You don’t have sense” and so on.
  5. You no longer have fun. No time to enjoy together, play and have pleasure; you don’t ever enjoy each other’s company.
  6. You don’t laugh together. You don’t enjoy laughing together; you don’t crack jokes and you have not laughed together for weeks. This happens even when there is no misunderstanding. Something is wrong with your marriage.
  7. You don’t fight fair. When you disagree, you bite each other. You fight like rivals; you disagree like enemies.
  8. You have no respect for each other. You disregard each other. You easily embarrass each other; no respect, no regard for each other, you always seek to bite each other.
  9. You’ve not been saying something nice to each other for some time now. Words like, “I am sorry”, “You look nice”, “Thank you”, “Please”, “I love you”, “It is well” are very rare in your home.
  10. You disagree on almost everything. Things that are not supposed to cause a disagreement now cause it so easily and the disagreement can be so bitter and brutal.
