Financial Wisdom for Wives pt 3

Financial Wisdom for Wives pt 3

– Bisi Adewale

It has been proven by research over the years that most women are less concern about financial wisdom or management, that they are more concerned about spending the money than acquiring knowledge on financial management. However, to experience financial freedom and rest of mind, do the following:

1. DON’T CARRY YOUR ATM CARD AROUND. Women are emotional in nature that is why they are impulse buyers and because of this nature, they ended up spending money they never planned for. To avoid careless and plan less spending; avoid carrying your ATM card all round. Discipline yourself about spending so that you don’t finish your future today.
2. AVOID TOO MANY CHILDREN. It’s so expensive to raise children now like never before. Consider the cost of diapers, baby cereals, cost of crèche, school fees, etc. All these take a larger part of our finances and if there are too many children to cater for, we may end up not having any investment to fall back on in the future. Give birth to 2 or 3 three children; don’t say you have the money now but what if the unexpected happen? Too many children can constitute too many troubles. Be wise!
3. AVOID TAKING YOUR CHILDREN TO A SCHOOL WITH HIGH TUITION FEES. Taking your children to higher tuition fees school is not a guaranty to the success of your children. Many great men and women in our nations does not attend a first class school. If you can afford expensive school, why not? But what is the need of taking your children to school whose school fees is too expensive for you? I know a woman who is into a petty trading and the husband is a security officer in a company in Lagos. This couple has four children and they put them in a private school where they are paying #500,000 per term. When you consider their earnings and the cost of the children’s school fees; it is a huge task before them, so the children do spend more than half of the term staying at home because of inability of their parents to pay the school fees. Wisdom demands that you take your children to other schools with affordable fees. Don’t imitate anybody, cut your coat according to your clothes. Your children will be great with the grace of God, seriousness and commitment.
